On Saturday, the 4th November 'Krama Paarayanam' of Yajur Veda
concluded around 5.30 p.m.
About 21 young students of the Oriental School of Ahobila Mutt that imparts
routine education and through special teachers imparts Vedic teachings
were in Sri Swamigal's 'Sannidhi' and chanted from the Upanishads. It was
a feast to the ears. Sri Swamigal blessed them each with 'vasthra' (dhoti)
and also honoured their teachers.
The eight Vedic Scholars were honoured with Sambavanai. Sri Mallikarjuna
Sarma garlanded and offered silk shawls to each of them on behalf of Sri Swamigal.
Sri Kannamani Dikshitar spoke a few words about our duty to support Vedic
Scholars and said that Tiruvidaimarudur Sri Srinivasa Ganapadigal, now in
an advanced age,
had served relentlessly for 40 years in moulding 500 Vedic Scholars in all!
He had been an Adyapak in a Patashala near Govindapuram. He had worked under
such unfavourable conditions as poor or no lighting, low income, etc.
But nothing, no amount of wealth could tempt him away from his task of
teaching the young minds. He had sacrificed his whole life to teaching the Vedas.
