The Background:

Early June 2000

It was a pleasant evening and Sri Swamigal was seated in front of the Rama Naama - tulasi peedam at Madhurapuri. He had the small vigraha (statue) of Sri Srinivasa Perumal in front of him. The matchless beauty of the Perumal bedecked with fragrant garlands inspired this song.

The translation:

Meditate ever upon the beautiful Srinivasa...

Who has taken the Seshagiri as his abode
Who grants the ever bountiful boon
Who rides on the mighty bird*
And is the protector of the three worlds

Whose face sports a gentle smile
Whose gait resembles an elephant wild
Who wields the propitious Shanka-Chakra
Who has taken Muralidhara's heart as his abode
