This Sapthaha Sathakrathu Mahothsavam was organized by Sri
Swamigal to celebrate the Jayanthi of MAHAPERIYAVAL
(HIS HOLINESS SRI CHANDRASEKHARENDRA SARAWATHI SWAMIGAL -
Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam).
Sri Swamigal said, "Devotees celebrate MAHAPERIYAVAL'S JAYANTHI
in various ways - through Veda paarayanam, Adhirudram, Chandi homam,
etc. We always celebrate the occasion with BHAGAVATHA SAPTHAHAM
because BHAGAVATHAM is Brahma Swaroopam (the very form of Brahman)
and hence is loved by JIVAN MUKTHAS (Liberated Ones)."
