Script from the Scriptures - 2

Discipline is the primary criteria for a man. Life is of no meaning for a man without discipline and neither wealth nor his relatives can be of any help to one who has lost his discipline.

Discipline means love for all beings, truthfulness, dharmic living, faith in God, hard work, respect to elders, devotion to sadhus, execution of one's duty and greatfulness. However, the predominant factor of discipline differs in each case, viz. for the wealthy it is charity, student - his study, shishya - his Guru Bhakti and reverence for the Guru, a son - his obedience to his parents, a wife - devotion to her husband, a husband - affection for and protection of his wife and children, a servant - loyalty to his master, a citizen - patriotism, a ruler - protection of his citizens, a yogi - celibacy, a sadhak - intense sadhana, a bhakta - unshaken faith in God and Bhagavathals.
